The Role

We are looking for an experienced, driven, and passionate Data Governance Analyst to join our growing consultancy and play a key role in developing our data governance offering. 

 

You will have a passion for driving good data behaviours within organisations, having previously worked in a Data Governance setting to oversee positive, measurable change. You will have the ability to quickly understand the context and nuances of a business, getting to grips with their processes, politics, and challenges in order to develop governance solutions that fit in with their needs. You will be able to see the big picture, and decipher points of weakness, risk, and opportunity.

 

You will be required to bring strong foundational technical understanding, ideally from previous hands-on experience within data engineering, data design and/or data development. You will have a clear understanding of data architecture, data flows, ETL, tooling and exploitation in order to support holistic understanding of a given data ecosystem.

 

Key to this role will be the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and the internal team. You will have strong influencing skills, with the ability to cut through the day to day in order to deliver strong, well-constructed messages. You will thrive on complex challenges, working both independently and through collaboration with team members to find elegant and efficient solutions.

Key Outputs

  • Data Governance strategy- Formation of concise client Data Governance strategies, helping them sympathetically evolve / transform their Data Governance practises.
  • Data Governance deliverables – including Data Maturity Assessments, Data Dictionaries / Business Glossaries, Data Security assessments in relation to GDPR.
  • Metadata Management – Setting up / maintaining Metadata Management tools and processes, including Data Lineage, Data Catalogues and Data Quality and profiling.
  • Data Quality - through controlled data management, creating measurement rules / definitions to highlight and improve behaviours driving right first time.
  • Leading POCs (Proof of Concept)- Show clients the power of new processes, technologies and ideas through small, succinct deliveries which can evolve into full solutions. Lead with clarity of purpose, tenacity, and acumen.
  • Training materials- creation of highly engaging and impactful training materials for various stakeholders of Data Governance, bringing the subject to life with innovative language, ideas, and approach.
  • Presenting- Creating and delivering compelling presentations that communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.

Skills and experience required to fulfil the role

  • Experience working in environments with differing levels of Data Governance maturity, and evidence of driving change / improvement.
  • Experience defining and / or developing the Data Owner and Data Steward roles within an enterprise situation, able to clearly articulate the role, benefits, challenges, and desired outcomes.
  • Hands on experience with one or more market-leading metadata management, reference data management or workflow management tools, demonstrating an appreciation of the role of software in successful Data Governance.
  • Hands-on data development, design and / or SQL experience within multiple environments an advantage.
  • Able to form and communicate own opinions, debating with the internal team in order to reach an agreed approach / strategy to best support each client.
